With #@IC_HTML@# you can export inspection plan contents directly to a Microsoft Excel workbook.

You can use the supplied Excel test report templates directly or modify them as you wish. However, you can also create your own templates just as easily. In doing so, you can use Excel files that already exist in the company. This page describes how you can create and customize Excel templates.

If the export of an inspection plan (more precisely: an inspection plan version) to Excel is triggered in #@IC_HTML@#, the available Excel templates are suggested for selection. Based on the selected template, an Excel work file is then created, filled with the inspection characteristics and saved in the specified directory.\\

**Requirements**

Microsoft Excel should be installed on the computer on which the export is performed in order to use all Excel functions. If Microsoft Excel is not installed, this must be specified in the settings by removing the corresponding setting.\\

Excel template files located in the set template directory - by default this is the directory mentioned above - are suggested for selection during the export process. The template directory can be changed in the "Settings" menu.\\

==== Structure ====

**The import sheet**

Exactly one worksheet in the workbook can be described during the export process. It does not matter where the sheet is located in the workbook, but it must be active when the template file is saved. In addition, the editing protection for this sheet or the editing protection for the workbook must not be activated.

References allow you to use the cell contents on other sheets.

> **Tip** If you open an Excel template file by double-clicking it from File Explorer, Excel automatically creates a workbook based on the template, for example an XLSX from an XLTX file. Open the template file from Excel, edit the template as such. This way you can save it directly without having to change the file format again.

**Define names**

#@IC_HTML@# writes the test characteristic properties line by line, i.e. one below the other. Another direction is not possible. Name the first cell in the column which should be filled with values with an export variable from the [[#Export variables|following]] Table. Each name can be assigned only once. 

Project and test plan attributes (available from program version 2.10.0) are written into one cell.

**Project data**

Project data apply to the entire project. They are set in the project edit dialog. The following export variables are available for each test plan export.

* [**Note** The restriction described in the following no longer applies from programme version 2.5.3. From this version onwards, numerical values are no longer exported as text but as numbers.] Nominal and tolerance values are output as a text string to match the representation in the specification on the drawing. If you want to continue calculating with the numeric values, it may be useful to convert the strings into numbers. You can use the Excel [[https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/wert-funktion-257d0108-07dc-437d-ae1c-bc2d3953d8c2|VALUE]] function for this.

==== Standard templates ====

The supplied ELIAS test report template is continuously updated and provided with new functions. Older versions of this development process are also installed, each marked with the year. The current version is

»DE« und »EN« indicate the languages German and English; the current template is bilingual. The following description refers to the current state.

**Structure and functions**

The workbook is designed so that all entries are made on the "Input" sheet. General test report data are entered in the upper part, characteristic-related data in the lower part. The input fields relevant for the editor are highlighted in yellow. By protecting the sheet (**Review** > **Changes** > **Protect sheet** > optionally assign a password and keep the default selection > **OK**), all other fields can be locked against accidental editing.

On the far right of the sheet, settings can be adjusted:

In the "Verification" column, the results for each tested part are entered, in the case of a quantitative test the measured value, in the case of a qualitative test "OK" or "NOK". Measured values within the tolerance range or in-order results are highlighted in green, measured values within tolerance but close to the tolerance limit* are highlighted in orange, and measured values outside tolerance and out-of-order results are highlighted in red. The deviation of the mean value of all individual measured values from the center of the tolerance range is displayed with a bar if the upper and lower limits are clearly defined.

The following sheets represent the forms of various release procedures. They are suitable for printing or exporting as PDF. The inputs on the input sheet are distributed to these sheets.

Forms that are not needed can be hidden (right click on the tab > **Hide**) or deleted.

The Admin sheet essentially contains identifier-value assignments that are used by means of names in the workbook. The Admin sheet must not be hidden or deleted.

**Edit the template**

The templates can be freely used and edited in combination with #@IC_HTML@#.

**Change display texts** – All display texts are defined on the "Admin" sheet and are entered as names in the appropriate places. In this way the switching of the language is realized. Texts can thus be easily adapted on the "Admin" sheet and change immediately at all points in the document. Other languages can also be implemented in this way.

**Customize forms** – The printable pages can be customized after removing the sheet protection (**Review** > **Changes** > **Unprotect Sheet**). For example, an area for company logo and other individual information is kept free on the first sheet in each case.

**Restore dynamic print range** – The print area for the form sheets is determined dynamically by calculation depending on the number of characteristics. This way, the print area is limited to the sheets actually filled with inspection data, even without having to use a VBA macro. If the link with the formula has been overwritten unintentionally, for example by navigating via **Page Layout** in **Page Setup**, the link can be reassigned as follows:

  - Remove the sheet protection.
  - Open **Formulas** > **Name Manager**.
  - Edit the "Print Area" name for the "PPF", "PPF_10", "PPA", "PPA_10" and "FAI" area respectively.
  - Copy ='PPF'!DynDruckBereich (for the sheet "PPF") in the "Refers to" field.

**Insert more sheets** – The Excel workbook can be extended as required.
